ADB Mikado: manual/memory lighting control desk
Mikado is the precursor to the Domino range of lighting control consoles, and is a user-friendly yet powerful lighting desk, intended for small to medium size stages. It is ideal whenever flexibility, ease of use, and cost are the prime considerations.
Heralding an exciting year of developments, ADB Lighting Technologies previewed the new Mikado at Pro Light+Sound 2008 (Hall 9.0, Stand D49).
Mikado is a straight-forward and cost-effective control system, filling a void for the entry level user both in features and price. Mikado delivers a very easy to use platform with quick access buttons to all major functions – no menu driven systems.
Mikdao is ideal for lighting clubs and bars, a small theatre or place of worship - or on the road. It is the perfect tool for effortless lighting control in both pre-programmed and live modes of operation.
Simplicity and intuitive control have been engineered into the Mikado, enabling the user fast and easy access to its innovative features. Avoiding complicated sub menus and hidden commands, all of Mikado's functionality is clearly displayed in a straightforward user interface. This dramatically cuts down programming time, while giving a greater edge in keeping your live shows dynamic and versatile.
Using the standard theatrical layout with 2 presets of 12 faders, the Mikado can cleverly switch the lower bank of preset faders between three modes:
- Preset - for manual operation switching between two banks of faders - controlling the same 12 channels of DMX.
- Wide - provides further extension of the frst 12 faders to a total of 24 manual faders. The Grab Master ‘grabs’ scenes and stores them while you work on the next look.
- Playback - the faders become sub-masters and control recorded scenes and chases.
Although compact and easy to use, Mikado is incredibly powerful and can run up to 12 chases at the same time. This multi-tasking capability gives you incredible fexibility when lighting more complex shows. Three separate banks (pages) can contain 12 recorded memories each, giving you a total of 36 scenes or chases - incredible for such a compact desk!
The Mikado is self-contained and ready for the road with a voltage selectable internal power supply. So there’s no need for external, easy to lose, power packs!
