The DMX-Dongle II is a high specification DMX512 Transceiver with RDM support. The DMX-Dongle RDM is used in conjuntion with the Software Reference Suite available from ESTA.
The Dongle connects to the parallel printer port of any IBM PC compatible computer. The DMX-Dongle RDM is supplied with both windows and DOS software packages. Additional software packages are available through third-party software houses

The DMX-Dongle is the perfect tool for any manufacturer, hire company or venue using the DMX512 protocol. A Developer's guide is also available for those wishing to incorporate the Dongle into their own software. An extensive software package is included with the Dongle:
Windows Software:
The Windows software is called
DMX-Workshop. This provides access to all the power of the DMX-Dongle II RDM and also all
ArtNet Ethernet devices. DMX-Workshop contains applications which can be accessed from a small task bar. All DMX512 header codes can be received.
- The Transmit application provides a level fader which can be used to control a single channel, a group of channels or set the level for two automatic modes: 'Dynamic' and 'Walk'.
- The MIDI application operates in conjunction with your PC's sound card. It displays real time received MIDI data and is invaluable for debugging.
- The Receive application features a level display for all 512 channels.
- The detail screen provides all the protocol timing data along with a log of frames received and any errors detected.
- DMX-Workshop also provides an Oscilloscope display of channels levels, full screen mimic and MIDI data analysis.
- Display and analysis of new DMX512-A features such as Text Packets and System Information Packets is also provided.
DOS Software:
The DMX-Analysis software package is DOS based and supplied free of charge with the DMX-Dongle.
- DMX-Analysis provides control for both transmit and receive.
- The transmit section allows up to 50 DMX memories to be programmed and stored on disc.
- Editing of channel data can be performed in decimal, hexadecimal or binary.
- The capabilities of the transmit section are perfect for testing and calibrating moving lights and colour scrollers.
- The receive section allows any 64 of the possible 512 channels to be displayed on screen. The display format may be selected as decimal, hexadecimal or binary.
- All DMX512 start codes can be received and transmitted.
- The detail screen provides all the protocol timing and error data including: Refresh rate and cycle time, Number of channels in frame, Break time, Mark after Break time, Number of frames received, Number of non matching start codes received, Number of overrun errors received and Number of framing errors received.
- Full analysis of the new DMX512-A System Information Packet is also provided.
Windows & DOS Development Library
The Dongle is supplied with Windows 32 Bit DLL, a 16 Bit DLL and a DOS 'C' Library. The Libraries contain all the functions required to construct sophisticated DMX512 applications.
