Capture v3.0 features [Discontinued]

Note

Please note that Capture 3.0 has now been superceded by Capture 2005 software. Please see the Capture 2005 product page for further information on this new software.

Capture 3.0 is a lighting design and visualisation software, designed to be simple to use and yet extremely powerful. Capture offers one of the best live visualisers available on the market.

Capture 3.0 offers a number of functions and approaches that are unique on the lighting design software market. They are the results of feedback from earlier versions and a vision to provide new and better solutions to old and well known problems.

Fully drag'n'drop enabled

Instead of a selection-oriented design, the graphical user interface (GUI) of Capture 3.0 uses drag and drop as far as possible. A good example is how you add a filter to a fixture in Capture 3.0, compared to the traditional solution employed by other design/visulisation software.

 Traditional solution Capture 3.0 solution
Open the properties of the fixture
Locate and press an "add filter button"
Pick a filter
Click OK
Locate and select a filter
Drag and drop it on the fixture (or even many fixtures!)

Using drag and drop means you can work more like in reality, picking up things somewhere and putting them where they should be. All changes are shown in real time.

Transparent unit handling

Handling the problems of multiple drawing units can give most people a headache. So in order to make it easy in Capture 3.0, you can use any measures you want, in any combinations!
Capture 3.0 also detects your Windows settings to determine what measuring unit to use by default!

Setting dimensions of any item is straightforward: for example, setting the stage width is achieved by clicking on the stage object and entering the width, depth, and height. These specific measurmenets can be entered in any format, so the user can enter a width and depth of 12 metres, and a height of 16 feet.

A built-in calculator makes life easier in many situations - for example when entering the specific position of a scenic element or fixture - measurements such as {12m + 4'} or even {11" - (12m + 13cm)} can be entered and instantly evaluated automatically.

Unmatched realism in live simulation

Great pride is taken in Capture 3.0 being the lighting design software on the market that produces the most realistic live simulation available!
Unlike all competition, Capture takes into account the following items:

  • The correct overall brightness of solid versus breakup gobos
  • Intelligent fixtures' frost effect
  • Correctly sized and visible fixture apertures
  • The differences in light output between different fixture types
  • How light decreases over distance
  • How beams in smoke are brighter when aimed towards you

... All at the same time!

Regular and free updates with new functionality

When you buy Capture 3.0, you can rely on regular software updates with a period of only one month! What new functions are released in the next update is constantly determined by the feedback from users.
No other lighting design software house on the market gives you this possibility to affect new functions and features!

Capture 3.0 Requirements

Both the full licenced version and the demo version of Capture 3.0 have the same hardware requirements. The demo version is a fully functional Capture 3.0 software with no features removed - except that it is not possible to save any work.

System requirements are given below.

  • Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP
  • 700+ MHz processor & 128+ MB memory
  • A good 3D accelerator graphics card

Capture 3.0 uses OpenGL for the live visualisation which means that you can make good use of the industry high-end graphics cards available. Investing in a good graphics card is just as important as your software investment!
