Dimmer Manager SoftwareDimmer Manager PC & Software

A new approach to dimmer system management!

Utilising the ADN network, the dimmer system can be controlled either by a Netbus Remote Dimmer Controller or via the Dimmer Manager software on a desktop or laptop PC.

ADN is a standard feature on all ADB professional level digital dimmers: Memopack, Memorack, Eurorack 60 & Eurodim 3. The ADN system is completely independent of the lighting control system, and can be used with any installation featuring the ADB dimmer systems listed above.

Dimmer Manager software

The Dimmer Manager software provides a Graphical User Interface for PC with Ethernet port and Microsoft Windows 98, 2000 or XP. Its powerful range of features include:

  • Personalised overview of a dimmer system, by means of a pyramid of groups.
Example: venue with several TV studios, several dimmer rooms plus temporary touring racks per studio, several dimmer cabinets per dimmer room
  • Remote programming of the dimmers: setting of parameters (DMX patch DMX, House Patch, dimmer laws, memories, Test menus...), editing of custom dimmer law
  • Remote dimmer tests such as fading, chaser, flashing
  • Storage of the parameters of a complete system (back-up of the dimmer parameters, stored in the PC)
  • Off-line editing of dimmer parameters, library of custom dimmer laws
  • Management of the memories (cues) stored in the dimmers.

Dimmer Manager software offers centralised status and fault reporting of all dimmers on the ADN network, including:

  • missing portable unit
  • missing phase
  • change of the load deviation in comparison with a stored reference value (optional)
  • DMX errors
  • fan problems
  • over-temperature warning

The Dimmer Manager PC is easily moved to FOH, on stage, in the control room, in a dimmer room... It can also be integrated in the venue's Ethernet network.

The Dimmer Manager software is available FREE OF CHARGE. Each dimmer technician can install Dimmer Manager software on his laptop, with his personalised set-ups. A show or project can be prepared even when the PC is not connected to the dimmer network, by using the software off-line.

Connection of the PC to the ADN network - the EIA-485 link between the dimmers - is by the Netport/XT gateway/converter. For large (or separated) ADN networks, one Netport/XT can be used per local ADN network, and then linked to the Dimmer Manager PC over an Ethernet network. This Ethernet network can simultaneously handle other data exchange such as DMX universes (ArtNet) and communications between any ISIS lighting console.

Real time fault reporting (standard)

All dimmers report the following information in real time:

  • fan failure
  • overtemperature
  • warning overvoltage (400 V wiring error, inverted N and L)
  • missing supply phase
  • DMX errors and levels
  • presence / absence on the ADN network

Enhanced diagnostics (option)

Provides additional information about individual dimmer channels.

Applications

The Dimmer Manager software can be used to provide a comprehensive check-up of dimmers and luminaires before a show, from a central location. It can also be used in architectural applications, allowing a daily check-up by staff, with the possibility of centralised results display.

Functions:

"Scan Loads" will report back the actual load (in kW) for every dimmer channel, as well as warnings for overload and short-circuits. Scan Loads will also compare the actual load with a memorised reference value.

Example: detection of a lamp failure on one luminaire when several luminaires operate on the same dimmer.
