Conversion Data - Length, Area & Volume
Where applicable, tables on the left convert metric to imperial, whilst those on the right convert from imperial to metric. For example, to convert from metres to feet, use the first table, and multiply the length in metres by 3.281 to give the distance in feet.
Figures in bold are exact.
Length
There are 10 millimetres (mm) to 1 centimetre (cm) and 100 centimetres to 1 metre (m). One kilometre (km) is 1000 metres.
There are 12 inches (in) to 1 foot (ft) and 3 feet to 1 yard (yd). One land mile (statute mile) is 1,760 yards whereas one nautical mile is 2,025 yards. There are 1000 mils (mil) in one inch although these are not commonly used.

Area
